If you travel just a little bit further to the Forbes area there is great camping along the Lachlan River. Both East and West of the Town. Also good spot at Bunmbuggan Creek but it's about 60ks west. Some Cod and Yellow Belly in the Lachlan amongst the Carp.

In Forbes itself there is the Free Camp area at Wheago Park on Lake Forbes.

Bit further out than the Terramungamine weir is the weir 10km NW or Narromine off the Burroway rd (on the eastern side of the river). But it is closer than Parkes.

Thanks Fred,

Hi Super camper, In Dubbo head south on Maquarie st, Go 6km out of town and take a left into the reserve. Good camping on the river with a boat ramp as well. If you keep going out of town another 14kms there is another good spot on the left as well.

Ive got heaps of spots if you need em.

Cheers Wilko

Thank you! Do these spots get really crowded in the Easter school holidays?

Hi Supercamper,

They do get busy around holidays. A better bet would be to travel to Burrendong dam and head up the back You can ussually find a quiet spot.

Cheers Wilko

Hi supercamper

Terramungamine is a pleasant riverside spot 14 kilometres from Dubbo - we chose it to staying in town for the peace and quiet. It is only small and can get full by the end of the day.Check out also Parkes and Forbes area free camps for something that may appeal to you from the options shown here NSW Free and Low Cost

Supercamper,

Another spot to consider is Ponto Falls. It's camp No 1040 in the Camps 6 book but probably a little to far south of Dubbo. It's 19K's north of Wellington and also on the Macquarie River.
